Oral History Booth with StoryCorps
Recording your memories from Troop 12 is easy and fun. Recording can be done on the StoryCorps app on your phone or on the StoryCorps website. Directions for both can be found below so you can choose whichever option you prefer. We will also have a booth set up at the Lawrence Barn and Dinner at Alpine Grove.
01
Get the App
Download the free StoryCorps app to your cell phone or tablet, available on Android and IOS.
02
Create Your Account
If you are using the app, it is important to join the community during your account setup. Our community is called T`12centennial2022. If you finish your account setup without joining the community then you will simply need to login on your computer and add it there instead.
03
Record!
Select record and follow the steps the app or website provides. You can select from the suggested questions list for Scout Alumni and Past/Present Scout Leader/Volunteer/Parent. When recording remember that these stories will be saved in the Library of Congress so extra context and details is great!
04
Final Steps
After recording your interview, feel free to take a selfie (optional) to be stored along with your interview. Next you'll want to decide which sharing option you prefer and sign the release form, upload to the Troop 12 Community.
Notes
Parental consent is required for people under the age of 18. No one under the age of 13 is allowed to use StoryCorps. These directions have been for the app and are very similar and if you have any questions please reach out.
